Grilled Hawaiian Mahi Mahi

  • 1.5 lbs. Hawaiian Mahi Mahi, sliced into fillets
  • 1 tbsp. avocado oil
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. Garlic Pa'akai 
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Tex Mex BBQ rub
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper


Drizzle the avocado oil over the fish, coating all sides.  Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper.


In a small bowl combine the chili powder, garlic, cumin, onion powder, Tex Mex rub and cayenne.  Stir to mix well.  Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fish and use your fingers to rub it in on all sides.


Cover the dish and transfer to the fridge until your ready to grill.

Cover the grill grates with aluminum foil and heat grill to 400F.

Add the fish fillets to the grill and allow to cook for 3 minutes.  Carefully flip each fillet and continue to grill for 2 minutes.




Enjoy with your favorite side!  We grilled jumbo artichokes and warmed some kimchee shrimp.  YUM!

Grilled Blackened Hawaiian Opah

 

  • 1 lb. Hawaiian Opah, sliced into fillets
  • 2 tbsp. avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme powder
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt 
  • freshly ground black pepper

Mix all of the seasonings in a small bowl.  Add the oil and stir to combine.


Use your hands or a silicone brush to smear the rub over all sides of the fish fillets.  Move to the fridge for an hour, until ready to grill.


Add the fish to a hot grill and grill for 2-3 minutes per side.


Enjoy with your favorite side.
